History
A history of excellence
“Behind every great reality, often there is a simple idea”.
The history of Preca Brummel S.p.A. begins in the 1950s when Giovanni Prevosti established PREGIO (PREvosti GIOvanni). PREGIO was just a small workshop working in the textile field as a weaver but since its beginnings it proved to have the main and necessary knowledge for grabbing opportunities in the market.
In 1955 Ugo, Giancarlo and Giorgio Prevosti joined the company bringing new ideas for the children’s wear collections and increasing the staff of the company to 50 by the end of the 1960s.
In 1968, starting a production of parkas PREGIO set up a revolution within the revolution, increasing its sales and reaching a height of production of 30,000 items, always in search of new solutions and innovative fabrics. Once the “loden” overcoat phenomenon exploded, production topped 800,000 items in one season and employees counted over 100.
Growth
At the beginning of the 1970s Giuseppe Prevosti, the current Managing Director at Preca Brummel S.p.A., joined the company giving production a lively boost and beginning a policy of aggressive marketing.
Preca Brummel S.p.A. entered the the large scale retail trade by getting in touch with Coin, Upim, la Rinascente and Standa and consolidating its relationships with their buyers by studying new strategic solutions.
PRECONF, a structure of external production factories with particular attention on quality of production procedures was established and international markets were entered (Romania, Thailand, China, India).
Multi brand strategy
At the beginning of the 1980s the company stopped its production as a weaver and began a new multi-brand strategy. In 1981, Brummel SpA, a company specializing in high quality children’s wear for classic and elegant lines of clothing, was taken over from the receivership control.
In 1984 PREGIO, the company specialized in children’s wear, merged with CAROL, a men’s and women’s wear brand, to form PRECA.
In 1996, MEK was founded taking its name from the contraction of the brand names MECCANO and KOBOL, well-known brands in the children’s field. Offering a complete range for 0-16 years, this casual, dynamic and energetic line is on the same wavelength as current consumer trends.
In 1999 the Happening stores opened their doors offering clothes for the entire family in a large assortment of quality apparel for men, women and children.
