History

A long path to quality

It was the year 1951 when a small textile factory began its production of clothing for men and women in Carnago, near Varese (Italy). Its name was Pregio, that resulted from the full name and surname of its founder, Giovanni Prevosti. Within a few years, the activity of company consolidated on the territory and began to spread throughout Italy. The outerwear started to increase, as well as the requests and the employees, who were already over 50 in the mid-60s.

Meanwhile, since 1955, the brothers Ugo, Giancarlo and Giorgio Prevosti have also become an integral part of the company, helping to give a decisive impetus to activity.

The 1968 was the year of the boom: Pregio specialized in producing exclusive clothing for men and women realizing 800.000 items a year, increasing the internal staff up to 100 resources. Hereafter the entry into the big distribution market was just a short step. The early 70's, in fact, were characterized by further growth in the production and by an aggressive policy towards the market. The new member of the family Prevosti, Giuseppe, joined the company and immediately started making contacts with large groups such as COIN, UPIM, LA RINASCENTE and STANDA.

In 1980, the time was ripe for a step further: PREGIO stopped the production as a contractor and devoted himself entirely to the marketing of branded clothing, following the "multi-brand" philosophy. In 1981 the company moved in the field of children's wear and acquired BRUMMEL, a leading brand of elegance and sophistication in this area.

In 1984, PREGIO merged with CAROL – a brand specialized in clothing for men and women - and gave birth to the new brand PRECA

In 1996, the offer became even wider and more focused on the child's world, thanks to the official birth of MEK, a lively 0-16 years line of clothing, result of the union between two historical brands, MECCANO and KOBOL.

The new millennium saw the last phase of the company's re-organization. In order: PRECA and BRUMMEL merged and created the current brand PRECA BRUMMEL SpA (2001), BIMBUS, the chain of fashion shop for children, was acquired (2003), BRUMS landed on the Russian market (2004), PRECA BRUMMEL signed a licensing agreement for the distribution of the line SUOMY KIDS (2006), Preca Brummel production decided to focus exclusively in the children's wear sector (2008).

Nowadays PRECA BRUMMEL is the leader in Italy in the children's wear field, with four historical brands (BRUMS, BIMBUS, MEK, SUOMY) and a newcomer JBE (autumn/winter 2011). Multi-brand policies and far-sighted strategies brought the company to preside over the most important sectors of the market with a comprehensive and modern offer, always close to customers' needs.
