A group leader for 40 years
Preca Brummel S.p.A has been one of the market leaders in large distribution men’s, women’s and children’s wear for the last 40 years. Situated in the north of Italy,
the company has a work force of over 600 employees and boasts a long history of successes from its beginning in the 1950s to the present, thanks to its founder Giovanni Prevosti and his family.
The signs of success
The core business of the company is the children’s clothing range (0-16 years) that goes under the names of BRUMS, Mek and Mek Bebè.
These collections, that make the Preca Brummel group the absolute leader in children’s wear, are distributed in multi-brand retail stores and through a franchising option. In addition to the children’s wear collections, a fresh, practical and comfortable maternity line is offered.
Since the 1st of July2003, Bimbus, a chain of shops of children’s wear previously owned by the Gruppo Coin, has become part of the Preca Brummel S.p.A. group, Preca Brummel S.p.A. is also present on the Italian fashion market with men’s and women’s wear collections retailed directly by Happening chain stores and by a large number of multi-brand shops.
Men’s wear mainly carries the brand name Porto di Panama; women’s wear collections go under the brand names Carol, specialized in outerwear, and Donna Carol is for plus sizes.
Distribution
Preca Brummel S.p.A. can be found in over 2.000 outlets in Italy, 20 Happening shops, 225 BRUMS franchisees, a BRUMS corner in the department store “La Rinascente”, and 74 Bimbus sales outlets, 61 of which are franchisees, 12 are direct brand shops and 1 is Brums Outlet.
New international markets
Preca Brummel S.p.A. is committing to developing on the international markets. At the moment there are BRUMS corners in a highly qualified large-scale distribution network in Andorra and 10 franchised stores in the Arab countries, Cyprus, Portugal and Spain. The Iberian Peninsula is an important aim of a three-year expansion plan already underway.

THE GROUP IN FIGURES
The chain store specialized in children’s wear:
1951: the company PREGIO is established by G. Prevosti.
1955: Ugo, Giancarlo and Giorgio Prevosti join the company.
1971: Giuseppe Prevosti joins the company marking an innovative turning point to the Group.
1973: PRECONF, external production laboratories, is founded.
1981: taken over by the receivership BRUMMEL S.p.A.
1984: PREGIO merges with CAROL giving light to PRECA.
1996: the brand MEK is created for the 0-16 year target.
1999: Happening stores are founded.
2001: PRECA merged with BRUMMEL to become PRECA BRUMMEL S.p.A.
2003: the company PRECA BRUMMEL buys the Bimbus trade name from the Gruppo Coin.
2300 sales outlets:
